HANOJ. The Vietnamese were sentenced on Tuesday to five years in prison for spreading the disease Covid-19 after breaking the rules of domestic quarantine. The AFP news agency informed about it.

Le Van Tri was convicted of “spreading dangerous communicable diseases to other people” when he traveled from the outbreak of coronavirus, Ho Chi Minh City, to his native province of Ca Mau in July. This is stated in a report on the website of the Provincial People’s Court.

The man (28) was accused of violating the 21-day home quarantine rule in the southern province, which had a lower rate of infections than Ho Chi Minh City, and tested him for covid on July 7.

Violation of the home quarantine order by these men led to the infection of many people, and one of them died on August 7, 2021, according to a court statement. State media reported that eight people had become infected since Triho.

Vietnam last year it managed to keep the number of infected people low, but now it is experiencing its most serious incidence of covid – it has recorded almost 540,000 cases of infection and more than 13,000 deaths.

The vast majority of infections and deaths have been reported by the country since the end of April, and in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi and in the business metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, a strict lockdown has been in place most of the past few months.

Several people have already been convicted of spreading covid among people in Vietnam. In July, a 32-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months in prison in Hai Duong, and a flight attendant at Vietnam Airlines received a suspended two-year sentence in March for the same charge.
