However, Boris Kollár no longer admitted negotiations with Šimko, but did not refute him either. “I have to say that I have known Mr. Šimek for a long time, I perceive him as a very good mayor. And I agree with his views on some topics and I have no problem with him. So time will tell,” Kollár said.

Problem for LSNs

The departure of Jozef Šimek from the ĽSNS club is a big and upcoming problem for the party of Marian Kotleb. After Šimek’s departure, only eight deputies work in his club, and if even one of them leaves, the club as such ceases to exist and ĽSNS deputies would become unclassified. At the same time, Šimko is not the first to leave the elections from the ĽSNS club. Deputies such as Kuffa, Tarab and, finally, the group around Milan Mazurek and Milan Uhrík also did so.

Jozef Šimko has worked in several political parties in the past. Before the establishment of the Slovak Republic, he was even a member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, after the revolution he joined the HZDS of Vladimír Mečiar. Later, he joined the former president Ivan Gašparovič, who founded HZD after leaving Mečiar. Šimko was also close to the SMS side. The last time he cooperated with ĽSNS, thanks to which he also got into parliament. But he did not join this party.
