KOŠICE. Eight classes at seven Košice primary schools (ZŠ) will interrupt full-time teaching for two weeks. The reason is students with a positive test for the disease covid-19.
The city of Košice informs about it on its website. There are currently a total of nine classes in quarantine in the schools under its founding authority.
As he states, infected pupils were recorded in the classes of Krosnianska 2, Janigova, Družicová, Bruselská, Požiarnická and Masarykova primary schools.
Since Friday, one class in the first grade at the Jozef Urban Elementary School on Jenisejská Street has also been quarantined. From Monday, the students of her other two classes are also studying distance.
“By 16 and 17 September, respectively, there will be a total of 230 pupils in distance education,” the city adds.
Sick children were in camps and on vacation
According to the head of the education department of the Košice City Council, Beáta Lopušňiaková, positive cases occurred especially among pupils who were in camps and holidays.
“The results of PCR self-test gargling are gradually coming to schools. We believe that as many children as possible will be able to complete full-time teaching in the coming days. I would still like to ask my parents to be responsible and send healthy children to schools without symptoms of respiratory diseases, “she said, otherwise she must quarantine the whole class after a positive test result based on the covid automaton of the Ministry of Education.
“Even the best online teaching cannot replace the presence of children at school,” she added.
