Renault Mégane E-TECH made official: Android Automotive, cocoon effect and L-shaped double screen – Frandroid

The French players are also in the game since Renault went there from its official presentation: that of the Mégane E-TECH. Based on the CMF-EV platform, this final version was seen in 2020 via the showcar Mégane eVision, whose visual resemblance is relatively striking.

Double inverted L screen

The Renault Mégane E-TECH is an electric car classified in the compact category. It benefits from a length of 4.21 meters, for a height of 1.50 meters and a wheelbase of 2.70 meters. But it is probably in the interior of the automobile that some great novelties have been made.

This trendy vehicle indeed addresses a unique equipment never seen before in the Renault catalog. This is the OpenR screen, which “combines, in an inverted L-shape, the digital display on the instrument panel and the multimedia screen in the center console», Describes the tricolor firm.

The dashboard measures 12.3 inches (1920 x 720 pixels, landscape format), against 12 inches for the multimedia screen (1250 x 1562 pixels, portrait format) in its most high-end version. An entry-level variation reduces the size of the latter to 9 inches, it is specified.

Android Automotive on the menu

In terms of embedded software, the Mégane E-TECH natively integrates Android Automotive, Google’s operating system dedicated to the automobile. The services of the Mountain View giant, such as Google Maps for example, are thus available. Google’s voice assistant will be used to ensure oral requests.

As for the sound environment, Renault has put the small dishes in the big ones. The high-end version of its vehicle benefits from a Harman Kardon system with a power of 410 W. It is notably composed of 9 channels (4 tweeters, 4 woofers and a subwoofer located in the trunk) dispatched in the passenger compartment.

The Mégane E-TECH will be entitled to two engine versions: one with a power of 130 hp (96 kW) for a torque of 250 Nm, the other with a power of 218 hp (160 kW) for a torque of 300 Nm. This last variation cuts down from 0 to 100 km / h in the space of 7.4 seconds.

Two battery choices will be offered to users: one of 40 kWh, for a range of 300 kilometers (WLTP), the other of 60 kWh, for a range of 470 kilometers (WLTP). On the recharging side, Renault is planning an on-board charger of 7 kW (AC), supplemented by an option of 22 kW (AC). Fast charging climbs to 130 kW (DC).

Renault Mégane E-TECH: order launch in early 2022
