The country, hit in recent weeks by a devastating wave of covid-19, reports 257,299 new cases. The official numbers of the Ministry of Health, reported by the Times of India, speak of a total of 26,289,290 infections with 295,525 deaths since the beginning of the health emergency in the Asian country with a population of over 1.3 billion people. There are 2,923,400 active cases, while 23,070,365 people are reported to have recovered after contracting the virus. It is the third consecutive day, underlines the newspaper, that fewer than 300,000 new cases of Covid-19 are registered in the country in 24 hours, well below the more than 400,000 at the beginning of the month. Today’s data on infections also shows a slight decrease compared to the 259,551 cases reported yesterday.
