I have never had a direct income from Penta, says Daniel Lipšic and claims that Jaroslav Haščák is lying when he mentions the “reward for JUDr. Lipšica”.
Dilemma solved. The question, which was asked on Saturday evening by Smer party leader Robert Fico, was resolved on Sunday by special prosecutor Daniel Lipšic.
On Saturday, Fico read from an anonymized decision. The decision states that “the accused HG referred to contracts relating to criminal law advice concluded with the law firm L.” According to Fico, the reason why the contract was awarded to the L. in politics ’.
Fico also pointed out that the fee for an AL lawyer was set at EUR 7,000 excluding VAT per month. “In the first year of cooperation, this famous AL lawyer did not provide the company with any written output. In the following period, he prepared only five documents in the total length of 40 pages, for which he was paid a reward in the total amount of about 240 thousand euros, “continued Fico.
Fico set a date – Monday, by which his supporters had to guess who is mysterious AL Fico’s riddle was solved by Lipšic himself, who admitted on the social network that he worked for Jaroslav Haščák.
“The defense of oligarchs, prosecuted under the supervision of prosecutors of the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, has the right to mislead and deceive. It is exclusively a matter of the “tactics” of the defense, “writes Lipšic.
He points out that “the demonstrably false claims of the defense of some oligarchs are beginning to be taken on by some public officials.”
It further describes how he worked in one of the largest international law firms from 2016 to 2021, from 2019 as its partner. Clients also included companies from the Penta Group’s portfolio.
“In 2017 or 2018, this law firm was approached by Mecom in connection with the representation of this company as a victim in proceedings before NAKA for a particularly serious crime of extortion. In addition, we were approached with a request to prepare analyzes for this company in the field of European law, “says Lipšic. He was one of the contact lawyers, as he led a criminal team in a company that had 25 lawyers. Mecom paid a monthly lump sum to the law firm.
“I have never had any direct income from Mecom or any other company in the Penta financial group’s portfolio. Never. Therefore, if Jaroslav Haščák mentions in his defensive statements “the reward for JUDr. Daniela Lipšica “, so it is demonstrably deceptive. In 2020, which was my last year in advocacy, the income from representing Mecom (in the criminal field) accounted for approximately 2–3% of the total volume of the criminal agenda of the company whose criminal team I led, ”continues Lipšic.
According to him, it is absurd that Haščák is now talking about his “specific experiences”. “The defense (in the case of J. Haščák / Ľ. Arpáš / D. Arpášová) can of course produce various absurd and untrue arguments, but it is sad if some public officials start to take them uncritically (and this is not just the case).” states a special prosecutor.
Public call to Lipšica Haščák
He says that Haščák also mentions in his extensive defense submissions the analysis of the law firm in which he worked on the applicability of sound recordings from the Gorilla case.
“I hereby publicly call on Jaroslav Haščák to publish this legal analysis. Its content proves that despite the fact that the companies in the portfolio of the Penta financial group were clients of the law firm where I worked in the past, our analyzes reflected our own, and uncontrollable, legal opinions, “he appeals to Haščák.
He adds that no one could buy a law firm, not even Haščák, who in 2018 “offered them an order of magnitude (!) Higher for representation in the Gorilla case than in the case of Mecom”.
According to Lipšic, the proof should also be that after taking up the position of special prosecutor, he filed a motion to file an appeal in the matter of release from detention of Jaroslav Haščák. He was released from custody in January this year.
“With the intervention of the Attorney General, who annulled the resolution on the indictment, the 5-member Board of Appeal of the Criminal Justice College of the Supreme Court will not be able to decide on the justification of the prosecution of Jaroslav Haščák. We expected his decision in a very short time, “adds Lipšic.
