Galaxy Book Fold: a 17-inch foldable laptop in Samsung’s boxes

In the foldable device market, Samsung could take on laptops, after smartphones. At least that’s what the leaky man Ice Universe hints: in a tweet, he shares a name, “Galaxy Book Fold 17”, in typical Samsung typeface.

A large foldable PC?

From here to think that the manufacturer would have in its boxes a laptop computer equipped with a flexible screen inside, there is only one step which one can cross quite easily. The proof, Samsung has already announced such a product … in a “prospective” video broadcast on the occasion of SID, the major exhibition of screen technologies!

Samsung notably presented a folding 17-inch laptop, on which the screen took up all the space inside. Like the ThinkPad X1 Fold, presented by Lenovo at CES in early 2020. It is a PC with a 13.3-inch OLED display in 4: 3 aspect ratio that can fold in half to offer two 16: 9 screens of 9.6 inches.

With this Galaxy Book Fold, Samsung would see much bigger since this computer would have to integrate a 17-inch screen. A very ambitious a priori product that could become the benchmark in the emerging foldable PC market. However, it remains to be seen how the manufacturer intends to integrate Windows on such a device.

Windows 10X was indeed supposed to be the version of the operating system suitable for dual-screen PCs and flexible screens, but Microsoft stopped the charges. Maybe Samsung and Microsoft are working together to make this future Galaxy Book Fold run smoothly.
