Record increase in infections: 329 new cases of new coronavirus infection in Slovakia – REFRESHER

This is the largest increase in cases since mid-May.

Of the 11,605 RT-PCR tests performed, Friday (September 3) in Slovakia revealed 329 cases of infection with the new coronavirus. The number of victims did not increase, the number of hospitalized increased by six patients. This was reported by the National Center for Health Information (NCZI) on the website covid-19.nczisk.sk.

The number of those infected also increased by 110 positively tested by antigen tests, of which 11,735 were performed, the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic informed. In the sequenced samples, it has almost 100 percent delta coronavirus variants.

The most positively tested RT-PCR tests were in the Bratislava region (55), followed by Trenčiansky (53), Žilinský (52), Banskobystrický (49), Košický (47), Prešovský (39), Nitriansky (20) and Trnavský (14) . There are 160 men and 169 women among them.

Analyst Ivan Bošňák from the Data Without Pathos initiative assumesthat the increase will be intense in the next two weeks and there could soon be up to 2,500 new cases per day in the country. In hospitals, however, it will not become apparent until another two weeks later.

Bošňák compares the situation in Slovakia with the development of a pandemic in the United Kingdom, where more than 30,000 cases occur daily. In hospitals, however, they hospitalize about a thousand people a day and a hundred of them die. However, if we take into account that Slovakia is 12 times smaller, we still have thousands of cases a day and the emergence of hyperfire.
