Affordable and good looking station wagon for seven and a huge suitcase. This is Dacia’s recipe for families. The new Jogger basically returns to the philosophy of the former Logan MCV. This time with SUV elements. Instead of diesel, it can refuel propane-butane. And later he dares to hybridize.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 The Jogger ideologically goes back to the times of the first generation of the Logan MCV. However, it is incomparably more stylish. And it adds SUV features such as chassis protection and ground clearance of up to 200 mm.

Dacia is having a fruitful year. She showed off the new Logan and Sandero, the electric Dacia Spring, the modernized Duster, but kept the biggest bomb at the end. It is the Dacia Jogger, a modern large-scale station wagon that will replace the conventional Logan MCV of the second generation and the MPV Lodgy. It is based on the new Logan and Sander, but its CMF-B Low Spec platform is reinforced in the engine and cab area and stretched to the maximum. The Jogger is 4,550 mm long, about the size of lower-middle-class sedans, but with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, it attacks middle-class limousines and, with a height of 1,632 mm, the crossover class. And for a chassis height of 200 mm, even SUVs would not be ashamed. Dacia herself claims that the Jogger simply cannot be placed in one class.

However, this recipe has been used by Romanians in the past. Remember the first-generation Logan MCV with a raised roof and winged rear doors? In the second generation, Logan disappeared for Dacia to discover for the second time. This time, however, it is a more stylish model, which brings great useful properties, but its belonging to the “personal” is not the slightest doubt. That’s why it has a comfortable hinged lid at the back. The design is based on Sander and the Logo sedan. Of course, this is true of its front part with a typical mask and lights with the graphic letter Y. By the way, daytime running and dipped beam are standard diodes. However, resistance to bad roads is demonstrated by more massive bumpers, run-in plates and robust plastic protection of the lower parts of the body.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 The Jogger has a length of 4,550 mm and a wheelbase of up to 2,900 mm. The team competes with the middle class. In height, it pulls closer to SUVs and crossovers.

From the profile, a long roof finished with a spoiler, an extended door and a third pair of side folding windows attract attention. The wheels have a diameter of 16 inches. However, FlexWheel sheet metal discs are indistinguishable from aluminum alloy discs due to specific lugs. These are also available at an additional cost, even with a diamond cut. Even at the back, the design was spared. This can be seen especially in the vertically positioned lights that line the rear pillars and again in the bumpers with the protective plate. Modular roof racks are handled without crossbars, as they are integrated. Just turn them 90 degrees. The whole is completed by a new logo and new graphics of the Dacia inscription. There is also an introductory “limit” Xtreme with glossy black accessories and four specific body paints – gray Comete, black pearl, gray Moonstone and brown Terracott.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 At the rear, there are spectacular horizontal lights, and especially a hinged lid instead of the wing doors of the original Logan MCV.

The interior is the kingdom of space. Only the storage compartments in the cabin have a volume of 24 liters. Three rows of seats in the 2 + 3 + 2 configuration can fit here. The third row consists of two separate folding and removable seats. Interestingly, the second row is at the same height as the front. The Jogger offers an incredible 56 seating arrangements. The volume of the luggage compartment also changes accordingly. In the seven-seater version, there is only 160 liters under the hinged lid, but after folding the second and third rows, the volume increases to 1,594 liters and after disassembly to 1,807 liters. In the 5-seater version, there is at least 708 liters behind the second row and a record 1,819 after folding down the second row. In the trunk we find elastic straps, four anchoring eyes and three bag hooks. Secondly, there are tilting tables that can be moved in the range of 70 mm.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 The interior is based on Sander and Logan. This also means modern infotainment with an 8-inch screen.

Even behind the wheel, Jogger will definitely not act as a “lowcost”. It has a height-adjustable seat, two-axle steering wheel adjustment and a modern Sander dashboard decorated with fabric. Jogger offers three infotainments. Basic Media Comfort requires the installation of a smartphone in a ready holder, but the higher level Media Display already boasts an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth and compatibility with phones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top Media Nav infotainment enriches functions with navigation, settings of some vehicle systems and wireless telephone connection. A separate air conditioning panel will also please.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 There can be up to seven seats in the cab. Up to 56 different configurations are available. Accordingly, the size of the luggage compartment ranges from 160 to an amazing 1,819 liters.

From the comfort features you can indulge in automatic air conditioning, keyless access and start with handsfree card, heated seats, light and rain sensor, electric parking brake, parking camera, blind spot monitoring, cruise control or hill start assist. From the assistance systems, the Jogger is equipped as standard with ESP, autonomous brakes with radar, active in the range from 7 to 170 km / h and also with six airbags. This should mean at least four stars in Euro NCAP tests. The Xtreme version enhances the atmosphere in the cab with red seat trim and gray satin strips in the doors.

Dacia Jogger – 2021 Under the hood there is a choice of two 3-cylinders – a new 1.0 TCe with direct fuel injection and a 1.0 TCe Eco-G unit adapted to burn LPG directly from the factory.

Under the front hood, the Jogger is “charged” by strict emission standards. Unfortunately, neither diesel nor any 4-cylinder takes place. There are only two 3-cylinder drive units to choose from. New 1.0 TCe 1010 direct fuel injection engine that sends 81 kW and 200 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual. The second alternative is a 1.0 TCe Eco-G engine (74 kW) adapted to burn LPG, which means that operating costs will be even lower than with a diesel engine, not to mention a lower purchase price. Here, too, a 6-step manual is standard. The 40-liter propane-butane tank is located in the spare wheel well. Together with a 50-liter petrol tank, this means at least 1,000 kilometers without refueling. In addition, the engine has 10% lower emissions.

But that is not the end. In 2023, the Jogger with a hybrid drive, which combines an atmospheric 4-cylinder 1.6 SCe with an electric motor, an automatic transmission and a battery with a capacity of 1.2 kWh, is about to be launched. Dacia claims that the hybrid Jogger will be able to complete up to 80% of city rides with the internal combustion engine switched off. Consumption is expected to fall by about 20%. The world exhibition premiere awaits Jogger on September 6 at the Munich Motor Show. The price should start at around 15,000 euros. We won’t see the price level of the original Logan MCV, but on the other hand, Jogger will offer significantly more style, modularity and, last but not least, security.
