Subaru showed more of its first Solterra electric car, while the assumptions were confirmed – Tesla magazine

Subaru finally revealed, resp. mainly showed more of the upcoming electric SUV Subaru Solterra, which is the brand ‘s first electric car. At the same time, expectations were confirmed. It is more than a close relative of the Toyota bZ4X.

Subaru states in its current press release that the Solterra electric car, which will go on sale in the middle of next year, is their most advanced car of all time. And while equipped with completely new drive technology, it offers Subaru’s typical “legendary” symmetrical all-wheel drive. Not enough light height is missing. So it seems that Subaru Solterra will not be afraid of the easier terrain.

It is the result of cooperation with Toyota

As Subaru reported earlier, their first electric car is the result of cooperation with Toyota. “The collaboration covered a wide range of areas, including product planning, design or performance evaluation, stated by Subaru and added:

“During this development, the two companies have combined their strengths, such as Subaru’s long-standing all-wheel drive technology and Toyota’s exceptional vehicle electrification technology to create new SUVs with features that only a pure electric car can offer.”

And the currently published photos confirmed what was expected based on the first teaser. That is, the Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X they will basically be twins, which will differ mainly in the emblem on the hood and the details.

According to the information obtained so far from both brands, it seems that it will be a model of the lower middle class, which will offer the interior space of a larger vehicle class. It is also interesting that Subaru and Toyota use their own designation for the platform (e-SUBARU and e-TNGA, respectively) on which these twins grew, although it is clear that they share a common platform.

Possible technologies on board

Unfortunately, even Subaru has not yet disclosed common specifications electric SUV. And so at least we remind you of what said Toyota to the address of its bZ4X model, as this could theoretically be offered by the Subaru model as well. It is a steering system without a mechanical “steer-by-wire” connection or on-board solar system, which charges the battery when the vehicle is not moving.
