The highest-ranking Afghan official, to whom both the prime minister and the president will report, will be the leader of the radical Taliban movement, Hajbatullah Ahundzada. The Taliban informed about it on Wednesday, to which the Afghan portal TOLO News referred.

The movement also said that discussions on the composition of the new government had ended and would soon announce the outcome.

Inlamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural committee, stressed that Mullah Hajbatullah Achundzada would also be the leader of the new government. “The Islamic government we announce will be a popular type of government,” Samangani added.

“The name of the new system should be neither the republic nor the emirate. It should be something like the Islamic government. Haybatullah will be in the top leadership and will not be president. He will be the leader of Afghanistan. Under him, the Prime Minister or the President will work, who will be under his supervision, “said political analyst Hasan Hakjár.

The Taliban have already appointed governors, police chiefs, and provincial and district police commanders. These officials have already “started working for the people,” said Taliban member Abdul Hanan Hakkani.

Although the Taliban says consultations on the formation of a new government are over, there has been no public discussion about the name of the system in the country, the national flag or the national anthem, the TOLO News portal added.
