Remišová convenes an extraordinary coalition council for events in the prosecutor ‘s office – SME.sk

BRATISLAVA. Chairwoman of the For People party Veronika Remišová initiated an extraordinary coalition council, the topic of which will be section 363 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The party’s press department informed about it. Remišová further stated that the existence and especially the use of the disputed paragraph, as the General Prosecutor’s Office did, causes a serious imbalance in the democratic system and the rule of law.

On August 31, the Attorney General dropped the charges against the businessman Jaroslav Haščák, Ľubomír Arpáš and Dane Arpášová and also both charges against the director of the Slovak Information Service (SIS) Vladimír Pčolinský. She used section 363 of the Criminal Procedure Code

“It is unacceptable that the decision of one person would frustrate the multi-year work and legal decisions of investigators, prosecutors, but also many judges of virtually the entire judicial system of the Slovak Republic,” Remišová stated.

It therefore convened an extraordinary coalition council to the prosecutor’s office and “necessary changes.”

“I have already pointed out this controversial paragraph in the opposition, and in the government’s program statement we are committed to resolving this situation. It shows how important it was to take such key anti-corruption measures immediately after the formation of the government. In this context, I communicate with the representatives of the strongest coalition party OĽaNO, which has long presented the fight against corruption as a key political issue, “she continued.

The chairwoman of the For People people party still wants to contact the representatives of the prosecutor’s office today to open a discussion on a change in the rules, as well as on a change in the current structure and a more comprehensive reform of the functioning of the prosecutor’s office.
