CABLE. High-ranking Taliban leader Amir Khan Muttaki told residents of the Afghan province of Punjir on Wednesday that the movement’s efforts to find a political solution to the conflict with its militants had yielded no results. The AP news agency informed about it.

Muttaki published a sound recording on social media with a message calling on the people of Punjir to persuade those who want a war to join the Islamic Emirate – and promised to be home to all Afghans.

The spokesman stressed: “We still want to prevent war and find a political solution.”

The Punjir Valley is the last area under the control of the Taliban, although the rest of Afghanistan was conquered during a rapid offensive during the withdrawal of US troops. Resistance spokesman Fahim Dashti told a media video on Wednesday that his fighters were still resisting the Taliban offensive.

The area has not been conquered by the Taliban in the past, and neither has the Soviet army.
