Floods are threatening in the north of Slovakia, the highest level of warning applies to one district – HNonline.sk

In the north of Slovakia, floods are threatened by permanent rain. This is pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, which issued first- to third-level warnings. The highest warning – the third degree currently applies in the district of Námestovo.

The second level of warning was announced by the institute in the districts of Tvrdošín and Liptovský Mikuláš. The first level warning is currently valid for the districts of Čadca, Dolný Kubín, Poprad, Kežmarok, Stará Ľubovňa and Bardejov.

“In view of the permanent rainfall falls associated with the saturation of the river basin, there is a presumption that high water levels will persist on the streams, corresponding to the degree of flood activity,” specified by SHMÚ. The development of the hydrological situation will be continuously updated.

At the same time, meteorologists in the north of Slovakia warn against heavy rain. For the districts of Čadca, Námestovo and Tvrdošín, SHMÚ issued a 2nd degree warning.

The total precipitation here can reach 55 to 60 millimeters. The 1st level warning also applies in other districts of the Žilina, Trenčín and Prešov regions. There can be rain with a total precipitation of 35 to 55 millimeters.
