There are protests in the capital again. The police detained two people – PRAVDA.sk

Several public assemblies began in Bratislava on Wednesday afternoon on the occasion of the Day of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. There are protests on Hodžovo náměstí and in front of the parliament building, and an assembly on Námestie slobody is also announced. Protests are also expected in Košice.

In front of the parliament building, several protesters got into verbal skirmishes with police. The police had to intervene in order to maintain a 50-meter safety distance from the building of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, detaining two protesters. Severe children are also present on site.

“In the time after 1 pm, two people were restricted in their personal liberty due to illegal proceedings on Alexander Dubček Square, who were subsequently escorted to the police department,” the Bratislava police confirmed.

An anti-conflict team also intervened in front of the parliament. After the arrest of one of the protesters, a group of protesters began to move slowly to Hodž Square, where hundreds of people are currently protesting.

There are several hundred demonstrators in front of the Presidential Palace, several members and supporters of the ĽSNS party. The crowd protests against the government, claiming that the “genocide of the Slovak nation” is taking place in Slovakia, and that the Constitution of the Slovak Republic and fundamental human rights are being violated.

Speakers are negative about the covid vaccination, the new coronavirus pandemic and anti-pandemic measures. They also criticize border measures.

Bratislava police said they had taken adequate measures for Wednesday’s protests in the capital. “We will monitor the situation on an ongoing basis, and in the event of a breach of public order or other illegal activity, we will use legal measures to remedy the situation,” the police said.
