Gombos’ great performance was not enough for the victory: the favorite from Chile, but he really suffered – Sports

NEW YORK – Slovak tennis player Norbert Gombos failed in the 1st koie singles at the US Open grand slam tournament. He lost to the sixteen Čiľan Cristian Garin 3: 6, 6: 4, 4: 6, 6: 7 (4). The match had a specific charge, as Slovakia and Chile will compete against each other in the 1st World Group of the Davis Cup in September at the NTC in Bratislava.

In the first set of the duel between Gombos and Garin, the key game was 3: 3, in which the best Slovak singlist did not use the lead 40: 0 when serving the opponent. Čiľan won five fiftines in a row, in the eighth game Gombosa broke and in his own service he subsequently completed the set to a successful end.

Even in the second act, the bread broke at the end. In the “marathon” game at 4: 4, Gombos deflected a series of breakballs and took Garin’s service in the next game. Coach Tibor Tóth’s charge got on the horse and at the beginning of the third set he bounced back to the South American to 3: 0. However, Garin mobilized in the next few minutes, turned to 5: 3 and took the 2: 1 bet on sets. In the fourth act, Gombos did not use two sets in a score of 5: 4 and pulled for a shorter end in a tailor. After Garin’s transformed swordfish, he smashed the rocket in a fit of frustration.
