Extension of the compulsory health pass on Monday: the government promises “a week of flexibility” – LCI

Pedagogy first, penalties after. Each time it imposes a new measure intended to curb the Covid-19 epidemic, the government puts in place a few days of tolerance. This will again be the case for the first seven days of the extension, this Monday, of the health pass to professionals in places open to the public, announced Gabriel Attal, this Sunday, August 29, during the RTL / Le Figaro / LCI Grand Jury. The government spokesperson thus spoke of “a week of flexibility and pedagogy”, at the end of which, as planned, there will be “Sanctions”.

From this Monday, the health pass becomes compulsory for “employees, public officials, volunteers and other people who work in the places, establishments, services or events concerned, when their activity takes place in the spaces and at the times when they are accessible to the public, with the exception of delivery activities and except emergency intervention “, according to the Official Journal.

This therefore concerns employees in places where the public should already present this sesame, such as restaurants, cafes, museums, cinemas or even large shopping centers. If the offending employees do not risk dismissal, they may be suspended without pay.

What will happen to the future of the health pass? Should we expect to live with it for several more months? “We are not fetishists of the sanitary pass”, replies Gabriel Attal who asks the anti-pass to “offer an alternative” other than the closure of restaurants. When the next elections, the government spokesperson can already say that the health pass will not be required to go to vote.

As a reminder, a health pass must state a screening less than 72 hours old – antigenic test or self-test -, proof of vaccination status or a certificate of recovery after contracting Covid-19.

Also questioned on the issue of compulsory vaccination, Gabriel Attal considered that “it can come at a time”, by emphasizing that Emmanuel Macron had mentioned this possibility in his speech of July 12. “If we had approached this vaccination campaign by saying that the vaccine was compulsory, I am not sure that we would be at the result today”, he nevertheless argued, welcoming in particular the device “going towards” which consists of offering vaccination as close as possible to the inhabitants.

“We have just crossed the million French people vaccinated via our ‘go to’ operations”, with “the work we are doing with associations and local communities to find people who cannot, for various reasons, go to the point of vaccination”.
