HEALTH PASS – A total of 159,484 people, including 14,500 in Paris, demonstrated this Saturday, August 28 in France against the health pass for the seventh consecutive weekend, that is to say a mobilization again in decline, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.

At 7:00 p.m., the ministry had identified 222 actions across the country. Outside Paris, the two most important events took place in Montpellier (9,500 people) and Mulhouse (5,500).

The militant collective Le Nombre Jaune, which publishes a city-by-city count, has for its part identified at least 319,290 demonstrators in France. This “first estimate”, which will be refined on Sunday, also marks a drop compared to last weekend, with 357,100 people recorded.

Last weekend, the Interior Ministry had identified more than 175,000 demonstrators, including 14,700 in Paris.

16 arrests this Saturday

Since July, hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life – former “yellow vests”, “anti-tax” activists, conspiracy theories or opponents of Emmanuel Macron – have been pounding the pavement every Saturday, without any notable incident so far.

This Saturday, sixteen people, including two in Paris, were arrested during these rallies and three members of the police were slightly injured, said Beauvau.

Asked about the dispute, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran assured this week that “the last reluctance is falling in the face of the success of the health pass”. He has besides not excluded from extending the device depending on the evolution of the health situation.
