Warm-up – leader Aleix Espargaró, Marc Marquez still on the ground

It was once again in very cool conditions that the drivers took to the track, for this last opportunity to ride before the race. The ambient temperature was 14 ° C at the start of the session, with the track temperature reaching only 19 ° C. The majority of the drivers opted for two soft tires, although it is unlikely that they would use this rubber at the front in the race, on warmer asphalt.

The Espargaró brothers quickly seized power, with Pol ahead of Aleix. The Aprilia rider took the lead in his quick second lap, before being dislodged by Fabio Quartararo, the first driver of the day to break the 2’01 bar. The Frenchman improved his time but was then beaten by Takaaki Nakagami, often performing in the warm-up, then by Aleix Espargaró.

Several pilots made mistakes in the last part of the session. Enea Bastianini fell at turn 12 while Marc Márquez, already author of a spectacular caper friday morning, was the victim of a fall at turn 8. The Spaniard was able to get up and he tried to get back on his machine, before giving up. Newbie Jake Dixon got it wrong on turn 16.

Aleix Espargaró retained the first place ahead of two Honda riders, Takaaki Nakagami and his brother Pol. Jorge Martín and the astonishing Iker Lecuona completed the top 5, while Fabio Quartararo slipped to sixth but was able to get ahead of the Suzuki duo, Joan Mir doing better than Alex Rins, the last MotoGP winner on this track. Jack Miller finished ninth ahead of Marc Marquez, who remained in the top ten despite his crash.

Barely since the start of the weekend, Johann Zarco had to settle for 15th place, two positions ahead of Pecco Bagnaia and four ahead of Valentino Rossi.
