There will be 36 new buses in Košice, and they will announce procurement for the next one – Športky

A total of 36 new buses will be added to the fleet of the Transport Company of the City of Košice (DPMK) in the coming months.

They will announce public procurement for the next tens in the coming days. The city of Košice informs about it on its website.

At the beginning of the new year, 21 new SOR NB 18 buses should be available in Košice’s public transport. The city will pay EUR 579,600 less for them compared to the originally won price of EUR 6.88 million without VAT. The agreement with the Czech company SOR Libchavy was also approved this week by the Board of Directors of DPMK.

The company won a tender among two bidders for the supply of 30 18-meter-long buses, announced by the city’s previous management in 2017. “The first nine buses were delivered to the East metropolis at the end of 2018 at a price of 327,500 euros per unit. The remaining 21 buses will come to Košice according to the contract between January and March next year, “he says, adding that the city has managed to claim a discount. Their total amount will be less than 6.3 million euros, so one bus will cost 299,900 euros. According to the municipality, this will be a saving of about 8.5 percent compared to the previous delivery.

By the end of the year, 15 new Solaris Urbino 12 low-floor and ecological buses will be added to the DPMK fleet. The city also managed to obtain an additional discount of 405,000 euros from their manufacturer, the Polish company Solaris Bus and Coach.

As Mayor Jaroslav Polaček reminded us, the additional discounts managed to save a total of almost one million euros. “The million saved will remain in the city budget and we will be able to use these financial resources to further improve transport in the city,” he said.

In the coming days, a public tender is to be announced for the supply of 48 CNG buses powered by compressed natural gas with an estimated value of EUR 20.92 million. Of the Eurofunds, EUR 25.3 million was recently approved for the supply of ten new trams in the years 2022-2023.
