Interest in the Pope’s visit is low. The government should abolish the need for vaccination, otherwise there is a risk of embarrassment, says publicist – REFRESHER

Pope Francis’ visit may be a disappointment for Slovakia. This is what the publicist Juraj Hrabko thinks, who commented on the current development of the situation on TASR TV at a time when the epidemic situation is deteriorating and vaccination remains a condition for meeting the pope.

Hrabko claims that the government should reconsider the need for vaccination to avoid international shame, as only 33,000 visitors are currently registered for the meeting. “That number is low and I think it’s a combination of several factors,” states the publicist.

According to him, the government must understand that even a personality as a pope did not inspire enough people of Slovakia to be vaccinated, because thanks to the vaccine they could see him live.

On the other hand, he acknowledges that Slovaks often keep matters such as registering for such events at the last minute, so it is possible that interest will grow faster a few days before his arrival.

Nevertheless, Hrabko expects that shortly before the start of the Pope’s visit, the government will finally abandon the condition of being vaccinated.

“If they don’t, we risk embarrassment. It is inconceivable for me that the Pope’s attendance in three days in Slovakia would be less than in three hours in Hungary. “ explains the publicist. It is said that he would not be surprised if the journey was finally canceled – either because of the spread of the delta variant, or because of the Pope’s state of health.
