Iraq, Macron: “France will stay, even if the Americans leave”

French President Emmanuel Macron assures that France will remain in Iraq “whatever the choices of our allies”, even then with the definitive withdrawal of American forces, provided that the Iraqis continue to support their presence. “Neither interference nor interference,” said the French president from Baghdad, where he took part in a conference on the Middle East in which the various countries of the region participated. “We continue to remain committed, because if we have defeated the territorial caliphate, the battle against Islamist terrorism is not over,” he said at a press conference. As for Afghanistan, Macron confirmed that France has initiated contacts with the Taliban to define humanitarian operations.
