Kabul, foreign ministry tweet for the consul: “Welcome back Tommaso”

“Welcome home Tommaso. Thanks to you and our soldiers, and thanks also to Stefano Pontecorvo”. This is the tweet that the Farnesina account dedicates to Tommaso Claudi, the Italian consul in Kabul, and to the diplomatic staff who returned to Italy this morning with the last bridge flight from Afghanistan. “Thank you for all you have done, you have honored the country”, the words of Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio welcoming the consul at Fiumicino. “You were the brother of all of us, we were the first country in the European Union for evacuations, congratulations”, the minister said again.
