1. Pellegrini fights the reform he most advocated as prime minister
Peter Pellegrini and his colleagues had a press conference in Liptovský Mikuláš with strong references to the governing coalition. After the expected call of the newly accused police president to resign, the former prime minister made a very emotional speech against the health care reform, which is said to affect the hospital in Liptovský Mikuláš.
Pellegrini called the reform “an incompetent, unprofessional and chaotic attack on human health” and called on the government to withdraw it. According to him, the reform was prepared “from the Bratislava table” and without communication with regions and experts, and therefore can only bring chaos.
Fico’s arguments still work. Pellegrini also mentioned his own plan for health reform, which he pursued in 2019 with Minister Andrea Kalavska, and which he said was “completely different” because it was based on accurate data.
We know the result: his efforts ended in an absolute fiasco, which led to the resignation of Minister Kalavska and pointed to the weakness of his position as prime minister.
Robert Fico stopped Pellegrini’s reform with the same populist arguments that the Voice chief has now drawn. He is also a good student of Fico in this topic.
What is Pellegrini right about?
