The draw for the Europa League was not particularly lenient with the French clubs. Olympique Lyonnais (hat 1), AS Monaco (hat 1) and the Olympique de Marseille (hat 3) will be entitled to good confrontations against Glasgow Rangers, PSV Eindhoven and Galatasaray respectively.

From hat 1, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco were the first clubs to be drawn and were respectively placed in group A and B. The Lyonnais then inherited the Glasgow Rangers from Steven Gerrard, Sparta Prague and from Brondby.

AS Monaco, eliminated in the Champions League play-offs by Chakhtar Donetsk earlier in the week, will face PSV Eindhoven, Real Sociedad and Austrians Sturm Graz.

Olympique de Marseille, from hat 3, was placed in group E, very tough, with Lazio Rome, Lokomotiv Moscow and Galatasaray. Already in 2018, OM fell into the Lazio group during their disastrous Europa League campaign and lost in their two meetings against the Italians.
