A total of 32 teams will present themselves in the European League. In a slightly modified format, the winners of the eight groups advance directly to the round of 16. The other teams will compete with the teams that will end up in third place in the Champions League in their group. The same fate will befall third teams in the EL groups, which will continue in the newly created European Conference League.
