Spencer trailer: Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana in the first poetic images of this biopic

After the sublime unveiled poster yesterday, Spencer finally reveals a first trailer poetic and shrouded in mystery. We find Kristen Stewart in Lady Diana in a dark period of her life.

This highly anticipated biopic was filmed in Germany and England at the start of 2021, under the direction of Pablo Larrain. The director signs a new portrait of a woman after Jackie and Ema.

The plot will focus on a weekend in December 1991 when everything changed for the princess. While on vacation with her family in the Sandringham Estate, she decides it’s time to end her marriage to Charles.

We can have a glimpse of Lady Di’s confusion on these first images, showing in particular preparations for royal festivities. The presence of the Princess of Wales is then required, which seems to cause discomfort in the young woman.

We also see Prince Charles, played by Jack Farthing, seen in particular in the Poldark series (in the costume of George Warleggan) and the movie The Riot Club. Sally Hawkins is also in the game. She can be seen chatting with Diana at the end of the trailer. “Are they aware of everything”, she asks, referring to the royal family.

Kristen Stewart then pronounces “They don’t” (“They do not know anything”) with the British accent of the Princess of Wales, enough to tease the impatience of the spectators on the performance of the young actress of 31 years. We will not hear more the ex star of Twilight, whose incarnation of Diana promises to be very internalized and silent, distinguishing herself from that of Emma Corrin in The Crown.

Note that the French Claire Mathon, caesarized for the photo of Portrait of the young girl on fire, is the chief operator of the film, which should land next fall.
