Slovakia will never accept attacks on civilians

The Slovak Republic will never accept terrorist attacks on the civilian population and international forces carrying out a humanitarian operation. The target of the terrorists were US soldiers and other Allied soldiers, who also enabled the return of Slovak citizens from Afghanistan. “This is an unacceptable act for which those who planned the attack must be held accountable. The attack organizers have made it clear that they do not want Afghanistan’s future to be peace, stability and prosperity for all citizens, regardless of ethnicity or religion.” stated the Slovak Ministry of Diplomacy.

He assured that he would continue to work with allies and partners to support a peaceful Afghanistan, which must not be a target or a refuge for terrorists. The attacks, which were also condemned by the Taliban, provoked outrage abroad. Among others, they were condemned by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg and the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

Slovakia does not register victims among Slovaks or Agfancers with ties to the Slovak Republic

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not register victims among citizens of the Slovak Republic or Afghans with ties to the Slovak Republic in connection with the Thursday attacks at the airport in the Afghan capital Kabul, said a spokesman for the Slovak Ministry of Diplomacy, Juraj Tomaga.

A double suicide bomb attack occurred in front of Kabul Airport, where thousands of people were waiting for a chance to leave a country where the fundamentalist Taliban had gained power. In addition to at least 72 deaths, 13 American soldiers were killed in the attacks. According to Afghan authorities, the attacks claimed approximately 150 people. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attacks. According to US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby, it was a complex attack. The official death toll is unknown due to the chaotic situation there, but at least 60 Afghan civilians have been killed and 150 injured, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
