Candidate for deputy in the province of Corrientes, Argentina, suffers attack in electoral campaign

(Cnn in Spanish) — This Thursday, the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, reported through his verified Twitter account that Miguel Aria, a candidate for deputy in the province of Corrientes, was shot during an electoral campaign.

Arias is in recovery after being attacked, Fernández said.

“The provincial government must quickly clarify the fact and punish those responsible,” said Fernández.

Gustavo Valdés, governor of the province of Corrientes, said through his verified Twitter account that he strongly condemned the attack suffered by Arias and indicated that the authorities are investigating the incident.

Arias is a candidate for the Frente de Todos party.
