The 110 Afghans who arrived in Strasbourg this Thursday are “many young families with small children, in extreme fatigue”, described on franceinfo Arnaud Fritsch, the general manager of the Foyer Notre-Dame association which manages their reception in a hotel requisitioned by the prefecture.

“Most have not slept for more than 48 hours, they passed through the French military base in Abu Dhabi before arriving at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport late at night. They arrived in bus to Strasbourg in the afternoon “, describes the general manager, specifying that everyone is resting this Thursday evening and that there is “no serious pathology to report at this stage, just a little bobology, especially for children, linked to this trip”.

“A diagnosis and a health and medico-psychological inventory are being made and will be continued throughout the weekend”, adds Arnaud Fritsch. The state services will begin the first steps to apply for asylum, he said.

In this hotel, “this is a very temporary and transitional reception, before being directed to other associative operators in the Grand-Est region to continue examining their asylum application, before obtaining a status of refugee”, he explains again.
