The Pentagon indicates that an explosion occurred Thursday near the Kabul airport, where evacuation operations are continuing after the Taliban seizure of power in Afghanistan.

An explosion occurred near Kabul airport on Thursday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, without being able to establish a toll of possible victims.

“We can confirm an explosion outside Kabul airport. At the moment it is not certain that there are any casualties. We will provide further details when we can,” John tweeted. Kirby Thursday August 26.

Earlier Thursday, several Western countries called on their nationals to move away from Kabul airport as quickly as possible because of “terrorist” threats. Warnings have been issued in particular by the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. The departure of American state had evoked “security threats”, while Australian diplomacy had spoken of “very high threat of terrorist attack”.
