Kováčik remains in custody, the court rejected his complaint – SME.sk

The Supreme Court assessed the complaint as unfounded.

BRATISLAVA. Former special prosecutor Dušan Kováčik remains prosecuted for custody. At a closed session in Thursday’s Supreme Court, the Supreme Court rejected his complaint against the Special Criminal Court’s decision as unfounded.

On August 13, a judge of the Specialized Criminal Court decided to reject Kováčik’s application for release from custody, as she was concerned that she might have collusion with previous government officials and their representatives, ie that she could influence witnesses. At the same time, she presented concerns about the continuation of criminal activity.

In his application for release from custody, Kováčik pointed out new circumstances, including the false statement of Csaba Dömötör. He suspects that the testimony of witnesses in his proceedings may have been manipulated.

The National Criminal Agency detained Kováčik at the end of October last year. He resigned shortly after the indictment. He is charged with the crime of founding, conspiring and supporting a criminal group, the crime of accepting a bribe, the crime of abuse of power by a public official and the offense of endangering a confidential and reserved fact. He has been in custody since October last year for collusion and preventive reasons.
