After its disappointment at the Euro (elimination in the round of 16 against Switzerland) the France team is now looking forward to the 2022 World Cup. Holders of the title, Didier Deschamps’ men will play three matches counting for the qualifiers . The coach has called 23 players, including three new: Aurélien Tchouaméni (Monaco), Jordan Veretout (AS Roma), Théo Hernandez (AC Milan) and Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen). Olivier Giroud is largely absent from this list.
The Blues will play first against Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 1 in Strasbourg, then against Ukraine on September 4 in Kiev, and finally against Finland on September 7 in Lyon. France currently occupies the head of its group with 7 points ahead of Ukraine (3 points), Finland (2 points), Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kazakhstan (1 point each).
