New rules already apply on the D1 motorway in Bratislava. Vallo sharply criticized the 130 – HNonline.sk

Yesterday, the National Highway Company pleased drivers who use the capital’s bypass. It is already launching intelligent traffic management in Bratislava, which will increase the maximum speed limit to 130 kilometers per hour.

The maximum speed will be governed by the current traffic and weather situation. This morning, due to the rain on the Bratislava bypass, the speed was limited to one hundred kilometers per hour, which is, however, still ten kilometers per hour more than was valid before the changes.

The new system is also welcomed by the mayor of the capital, Matúš Vallo. To increase speed on the bypass of the city has however, their reservations.

The National Motorway Company informed about changes in traffic in Bratislava:

“I welcome the so-called intelligent control, which, thanks to sensors and dynamic adjustment of the maximum speed, can improve the flow of traffic on the Bratislava bypass,” Vallo wrote.

However, he is concerned about the effects of the increase in speed on the population. “Higher speeds cause higher noise pollution and emissions directly in the city, in some cases only tens of meters from apartments and houses, “ the mayor warned.

Concerns about public transport restrictions

Vallo is also concerned about safety, especially at more complicated intersections, where higher speeds can cause problems.

Last but not least, he fears the exclusion of public transport from the bypass, which would have further negative effects on the lives of people in the city. Although Vallo claims that public transport has a temporary exemption from the minimum speed from the NDS, it ends in August 2022.

If public transport vehicles could not drive on the bypass, it would cause considerable problems. “The potential exclusion of public transport from the bypass would mean huge time losses for passengers and, of course, a significant increase in the cost of operating public transport. appoints Vallo.
