OUR CULTURAL CHOICES – Agnès Desarthe, Philippe Jaenada, Christine Angot, Marc Dugain, Marie Darrieussecq, Philippe Djian… Beautiful feathers are jostling on the shelves of bookstores. To help you choose, here is the selection of “Télérama”.
Is it a desire on the part of the publishing world to see the enthusiasm for books observed over the past few months continue, by offering the reader a reunion with authors to whom he is attached? Difficult to say … Still, the sure values are jostling at the gates of the literary start of the 2021 literary school year: Agnès Desarthe, Philippe Jaenada, Christine Angot, Emmanuelle Salasc (who until then had been read under the name of Emmanuelle Pagano), Christophe Boltanski, Marc Dugain, Marie Darrieussecq, Philippe Djian and many others… Confirmed authors and beginners gathered, a total of 521 novels and stories (379 French and 142 foreigners) will be published by the end of October.
What to find happiness, so much are varied this year the themes and the writings. If it is confirmed that, more than ever, our present appeals to writers and inspires them to fascinating and invigorating novels (on the place of women in our societies, the climate and ecological crisis, the world of work and its violence … ), it is also the case of the timeless romantic motifs that are the family, the relations between the generations, the learning of adulthood. All these themes, and the unique way in which today’s authors look at them and shed light on them, have fueled our choices to offer you this selection of essential books for the start of the school year. Good reading !
