An Afghan sentenced to 10 months in prison for being out of the surveillance zone which was imminent to him – franceinfo

The Afghan who left the surveillance zone imposed on him after his arrival in France from Kabul has just been sentenced to 10 months in prison, reports a journalist from France Inter present at his trial in Paris on Wednesday evening. The prosecutor had requested twelve months in prison, six of which was firm and a warrant of committal.

During the hearing, the man, who was a prosecutor in Afghanistan, said he understood the surveillance that had been put in place but denied any connection with the Taliban. He explains that he wanted to buy medicine and followed a neighbor of the hotel who had offered to accompany him and told him that they would only go to the hotel for five minutes. When questioned, this neighbor assures us that the man told him he wanted to buy SIM cards.

This Afghan is close to another Afghan who is suspected of having ties to the Taliban. After his arrival in France, like four other Afghan nationals, he was placed under surveillance and was prohibited from leaving Noisy-le-Grand, but also from his hotel given his quarantine. He was arrested in Paris on Monday and taken into police custody.
