The case of Hedviga Malinová is a symbol of the failure of the rule of law, the president declared – Aktuality.sk

The case of Hedviga Malinová is still a symbol of the failure of the rule of law. This was announced by President Zuzana Čaputová on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the attack on Malinová.

She added that we must never forget the injustice towards the then Slovak student of Hungarian nationality.

On the day of the anniversary, the President reminds that the attack with a national dimension took place against the background of deteriorating Slovak-Hungarian relations, and instead of justice and proper investigation, Hedviga Malinová Žáková became the target of further intimidation at one time.

“The state apparatus opposed it – an ordinary citizen. The holders of state power distorted the law by wanting to bring it to justice and not those who attacked it. The perpetrators were never taken into account, but Hedviga Malinová Žáková was forced to find a home outside Slovakia under the pressure of events and social atmosphere. The apology that she later received is only part of the satisfaction behind the hardship she has had to face for many years, “said the head of state in a statement sent to TASR by her spokesman Martin Strižinec.

In August 2006, two men were to beat Hedvika Malinová, a Slovak student of Hungarian nationality, in Nitra. The case, which raises many questions, is still closed.
