Kia Sportage will be presented on September 1 – SME.sk

FRANKFURT. Although Kia has already shown a new generation of the compact SUV Sportage, it has not yet been a European version. It will be shorter and with a slightly different design.

One week before the premiere, the Korean carmaker published sketches of the fifth Sportag, which we will meet on our travels.

So far, these are typical design drawings with huge wheels and more dynamic proportions, but you can still see some differences compared to the 7-seater Asian version.

Anyone who expected the boldly designed front grille to change in the European version may be disappointed. It is also clear from the sketches that the non-traditional lights separated from the radiator grille by “boomerangs” with LED lighting remain the same.

Larger changes are more at the rear, where there is a smaller overhang, but also a shorter wheelbase, so the proportions are more reminiscent of the last two generations of the compact SUV. There is no more window behind the second pair of side doors and the bottom line rises.

While sister Hyundai Tucson does play more on elegance, Sportage does sports a breath when he already has it in his name. A novelty will be a two-tone body with a black roof and its front pillars.

The digital premiere will be broadcast online on Wednesday, September 1, followed by a week later by visitors to the Munich Mobility Fair. It is a new replacement for the classic IAA autumn motor show in Frankfurt.

Technically, the Sportage will have a lot in common with Tucson, including a range of 1.6-liter supercharged engines, including a plug-in hybrid and probably a full-hybrid.
