OnlyFans suspends proposal to ban sexually explicit content

(CNN) – OnlyFans said Wednesday that it will suspend its policy change that sought to ban sexually explicit content, mentioning that it has received “guarantees” that will allow it to be “a home for all creators.”

“We secured the necessary guarantees to support our diverse community of creators and we are suspending the policy change scheduled for October 1,” the company said in a tweet. “OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators,” he added.

The company also noted that creators will receive an email from OnlyFans shortly.

The change comes just days after OnlyFans announced that it would ban creators from posting “content containing sexually explicit conduct,” sparking an outcry from sex workers who had helped create the company’s success and popularity. .

OnlyFans said the ban came after requests from “banking partners and payment providers.”

In an interview with the Financial Times that was published earlier this week, OnlyFans CEO Tim Stokley blamed banks such as Bank of New York Mellon and JP Morgan, which he said had blocked OnlyFans payments to creators and closed their accounts.
