Rumor: Future 14 and 16 “MacBook Pros would have identical performance but a higher price tag – MacGeneration

This is both good and bad news for all those who can no longer wait for the MacBook Pro “M1X”, these successors to the current 13 and 16 inch models which should finally arrive this fall : the fighter @dylandkt announces that future 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros should have the same performance… but a steeper starting price.

If this rumor turns out, it means that the two machines would ship the same Apple Silicon processor and that the customer could choose the smaller of the two models without sacrificing performance. This is not the case for the current Intel lineup where, for example, it is not possible to select a Core i9 processor on the 13 “MacBook Pro – only the 16 inch offers this option.

Current Intel 13 “MacBook Pros.

Still according to @dylandkt (who hit it right in the past), Apple would however have chosen to charge these new products more expensive, and the price of the base 14 “MacBook Pro would therefore be closer to current high-end Intel machines. As a reminder, the MacBook Pro 13 “Core i5 starts at € 2,129 in France, the other Core i5 is at € 2,359 and you have to pay at least € 2,699 for a 16” MacBook Pro. If this pricing is confirmed, this new range of MacBook Pro 14 “could therefore start around 2000 €, if not exceed them.
