KOŠICE. Next week, the National Motorway Company (NDS) will sign a contract with the contractor of the second part of the R2 Košice, Šaca – Košické Oľšany expressway section.
At a joint briefing with the mayor of Košice Jaroslav Polaček and the chairman of the Košice self-governing region Rastislav Trnk (both independent) informed the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic in Košice Andrej Doležal (nominant We are a family).
“This is a long-awaited step. This construction will go beyond the programming period, the end of 2023, so it is likely that we will phase this project, but that does not change the fact that we are very much looking forward to it. I assume that we will hand over the construction site in the autumn of this year, “said Doležal.
He added that the financing of this project from Eurofunds will be signed at the same time as the contract is signed.
If the project does not manage to be completed in this programming period, ie by the end of 2023, it will be paid from the new programming period, according to Doležal.
The National Motorway Company announced a tender for the contractor of the second part of the section of the R2 Košice, Šaca – Košické Oľšany expressway in December 2018.
Tenders in the tender with an estimated contract value of EUR 138 million excluding VAT were originally submitted by seven tenderers, three of whom were excluded.
The lowest price was proposed by the Italian-Slovak association consisting of INC, Cesta SK and Cedis, namely 123.6 million euros without VAT.
However, the NDS excluded this applicant last September.
Section R2 should thus be built by a group of companies Eurovia SK and Eurovia CZ with a second price offer of 132.6 million euros without VAT.
Construction work is scheduled to begin this year, with construction expected to take three years.
Negotiations with Polaček and Trnk
During Tuesday’s meeting, Doležal and the mayor of Košice, Jaroslav Polaček (independent), also agreed, for example, on the repair of the underpass in the South district, which has been flooded for a long time.
“I gave the mayor the floor that the NDS, together with the city in some participation, will repair this underpass so that it can be used by the citizens of the city of Košice for what it was intended for,” Doležal said, adding that it was also related to the planned reconstruction of the tram line. .
With her procurement according to him, it could start next year.
Together with the chairman of the Košice self-governing region Rastislav Trnk (independent), they also talked about prioritizing motorway sections in eastern Slovakia, improving railway transport infrastructure, including new train carriages, bus lanes and the future of the track behind the railway station.
