The Chinese manufacturer has decided to end its Xiaomi Mi brand dedicated to high-end smartphones.
New change in the transformation of the brand. Xiaomi had started to change its logo, to highlight Redmi especially in China and this time, it is an outright disappearance of one of the smartphone giant’s brand.
The Mi brand, reserved for high-end smartphones but which inaugurated the launch of Xiaomi on the smartphone market with the Xiaomi Mi 1, launched in 2011, will therefore disappear. After 10 years of existence, we can therefore now expect simple Xiaomi for high-end models, alongside the Redmi and Redmi Note for example. Indeed, the last smartphone announced by the manufacturer is for its part named Xiaomi Mix 4, without the iconic “Mi”.
It remains to be seen if this change will be accompanied by a new name for its software interface named MIU after the name of its smartphones.
