MADRID – Real Madrid footballers will return to Santiago Bernabéu’s home stadium after the upcoming national team break, where they last performed before an extensive renovation last March. “Los Blancos” confirmed their return to the famous arena on September 11, when they will welcome Celta Vigo in the fourth league round. The first two matches of the season were played on the opponents’ pitches, and this will also be the case in Saturday’s duel with Betis Sevilla.

Since last June, Real has been playing all home games at the Alfredo Di Stéfano training stadium. In his last match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, he defeated Barcelona 2: 0 on March 1, 2020, shortly afterwards the competition stopped due to a coronavirus pandemic and since the restart the “White Ballet” has been working in a temporary asylum at his training center in Valdebebas.

The modernization of the stadium will continue even after the team’s return and will last at least until next summer. The reconstruction of the arena with a capacity of over 80,000 spectators will cost more than half a billion euros. In Spain, it is currently possible to fill the capacity of the view at open-air sports events by forty percent.
