Afghanistan, Italy airlift for evacuations: end by 27 August

The end of the airlift will be brought forward for evacuations to Italy from Afghanistan. The last Italian evacuation flight for Afghan civilians is expected to depart between 26 and 27 August. As far as we know, evacuation operations beyond that date should no longer be carried out. Read also The United States will leave Kabul on August 31 and the previous 72 hours should be devoted to the departure of the remaining US troops. “The ongoing negotiations between Taliban leaders and Ahmed Massoud-led resistance leaders have so far not achieved any progress” for a peaceful solution that avoids armed confrontation in Panshir, the last stronghold of resistance to Islamic militants. In the meantime, this is what Panshir Province reports on Twitter, an account attributable to the Northern Alliance, which assures: “Our resistance groups are fully equipped and ready to fight, in no case will there be surrender”.
