Genesis GV60: The electric crossover is on its way to Europe. It has a crystal ball – PRAVDA.sk

After the Hyunai Ioniq 5 and Kii EV6, it was only a matter of time before the Hyundai Group introduced the compact electric car under the Genesis brand. He wrapped the identical technology in an autonomous design. And he added a little mystique.

Genesis GV60 – 2022 The electric Genesis GV60 is based on its less noble siblings – Hyundaia Ioniq 5 and Kie EV6. However, it has a fully autonomous design with typical elements of Genesis, such as horizontally divided lights.

While Infiniti has long been “wrapped up” in Europe, Hyundai’s premium division has big plans for the old continent. Genesis has only recently been able to do this with the introduction of the luxury G70 Shooting Brake, developed exclusively for Europe. It will complement the existing offer, which includes two G70 and G80 sedans, as well as two GV70 and GV80 SUVs. As the number suggests, in the Genesis nomenclature, the news will be one step lower.

However, the carmaker is not talking about a less premium offer, but that a lower number means a greater focus on sports emotions, while higher ones are an alternative for customers who suffer from elegance and luxury. In addition, the new GV60 will be a pure electric car. But not the first, the Korean brand has already entered the electric era. And that is a beautiful G80 Electrified sedan, which is an electric Pendant G80.

Genesis GV60 – 2022 This premium crossover attacks emotions with a coupe silhouette. The cleanliness of the lines is supported by digital rear-view mirrors and pull-out handles.

The difference is that the GV60 was originally developed as a battery electric car, which is why Genesis omitted the adjective Electrified. You probably know that the attractive crossover has a common 800 V platform E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), known from a pair of new electric cars Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Even in this case, however, the concern took care not to confuse it. Unified technology is dressed in an autonomous design that does not resemble its siblings.

Genesis GV60 – 2022 We will also find split lights at the back. However, they are not connected by a diode strip. She found a place in the spoiler.

The GV60 takes the form of a crossover with a raised chassis and a coupe silhouette. The brand is reported by typical split reflectors. The purity of the “Athletic Elegance” style is enhanced by the monolithic front hood, which extends to the fenders, digital rear-view mirrors and recessed handles. The profile enlivens the concave motif in the rear pillar. The black rear spoiler follows the shape of the window and contains a light bar. Genesis did not disclose the exact dimensions. However, we can start from sister models, which have a wheelbase of 2,900 to 3,000 mm.

Genesis GV60 – 2022 The cab combines two 12-inch displays, but is centered by a crystal ball on the center console. When activated, it changes to the drive mode controller.

Despite the compact design, it will not be a crumb. The crew finds the more space in the cabin, the less electric drive it needs. In addition, the dashboard and center console have a “floating” design that enhances the feeling of airiness. While the “deck” carries two large displays with a diagonal of 12 inches, in the central tunnel we find the so-called “Crystal Sphere”, which is a crystal ball with ambient lighting, as a central element of the interior. However, it is not just an effect, after “starting” it turns and changes to the driving mode selector. A little mysticism certainly won’t hurt.

Genesis has not revealed anything about the technique yet. But with a high probability, the GV60 will offer batteries with a capacity of 58 or 72.6 kWh and one or two electric motors. Following the example of its siblings, the power range will range from 125, through 160 and 173 up to 225 kW. And the top version with an incredible 430 kW and 740 Nm of torque, derived from the Kie EV6 GT, is not excluded. However, it is possible that Genesis will omit the weakest versions with a smaller battery pack from the portfolio due to its top position.

In any case, the GV60 will benefit from fast charging thanks to its 800 V architecture, which allows it to use a charging power of up to 350 kW. In practice, this means that the GV60 should be able to pump energy for 100 km in 4.5 minutes. And if you charge the batteries from 10 to 80%, it shouldn’t take more than 18 minutes in ideal conditions. Depending on the version, the range should be up to 510 km in accordance with the stricter WLTP standard. We will find out more precise data only after the launch on the European market, which is expected next year.
