Among these men, one particularly caught the attention of the authorities. According to information obtained by LCI, he would have provided significant assistance during the evacuation of the French embassy and the people who had taken refuge there. However, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, confirmed to AFP that he would be “may be related to the Taliban”.
Safety interviews upon arrival in Abu Dhabi
According to the order taken by the minister and consulted by AFP, this man admitted his membership of the movement and admitted to having carried arms as responsible for a Taliban roadblock in Kabul. However, in the face of “extremely serious difficulties in being able to carry out security investigations on the people to be repatriated”, the French authorities “agreed to take this person and his family on board”, explained Gérald Darmanin. According to a source familiar with the matter, the man also risked “significant reprisals following his help on the spot”.
When the flight arrives in Abu Dhabi, the Directorate General of Internal Surveillance (DGSI) “did the job she couldn’t do in Kabul” by conducting security talks, he added.
Upon his arrival in France this weekend, he was notified of the Micas, as were three of his relatives. “for the moment not directly suspected”. As for the fifth man, “we saw after a DGSI investigation that he had links with these people although he came separately”, detailed the minister.

The Micas will therefore make it possible to confirm or refute the suspicions that weigh on this particular person. “They are closely watched and further investigations are underway”, we were assured at the Ministry of the Interior at LCI.
“I have not had any other feedback from the DGSI” as for other nationals who may be concerned by such measures, ended Gérald Darmanin, his entourage nevertheless assuring LCI that vigilance was “total”. On Twitter, he also reacted, writing: “France is human, but she is also vigilant. In managing the Afghan crisis, the government will continue to take all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the French”.
