The Community of Madrid reminds the Government that three days ago it alerted it to the lack of guards in museums

On Wednesday, November 2, the Ministry of Culture expressed its concern in a letter to Minister Miquel Iceta Marta Rivera de la Cruz conveying its concern about the “vandalism” attacks that occurred in European art galleriesIn some cases, 50% of the space has been closed museum due to lack of personnel, said the regional government has recalled that this Wednesday, November 2, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, sent a letter to the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, transferring their concern and unease at the lack of security guards to control the rooms of state museums located in Madrid. The concern was caused by the latest protests by environmentalists in the United Kingdom and Germany, who had ‘attacked’ against works of art from Monet, Van Gogh or Constable. Lack of control personnel Counselor Rivera de la Cruz told Iceta: “I myself have been able to verify, during my visits to museums in Madrid, that due to the lack of control personnel in rooms, they have been forced to close certain rooms. In In some cases, 50% of the space has been closed, as happened a few days ago at the National Archaeological Museum.” The letter sent to Culture continued to admit that the concern about the attacks is not exclusive to the regional executive: “I understand that you share with me this concern, and that you are undoubtedly on the way to a solution, even more so due to the crucial moment we are living in. At a time when vandalism attacks have taken place in different European art galleries, a control problem in the rooms seems to me to be especially worrying. For this reason, I personally convey my concern to you, not only as Minister of Culture of the Community of Madrid, but also as Minister of Tourism, because I fear the negative impact that e temporary closures may have on the image of our region as a preferred tourist destination. The letter, which was headed with a “dear minister”, concludes by “thanking in advance your attention and interest” to Minister Iceta.
