The average stay is 4.1 overnight stays per traveler, according to data published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics. During the first nine months of 2022, overnight stays increased by 61.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. In campsites, rural tourism establishments and hostels, the accumulated overnight stays between January and September are above the levels of 2019. Tourist apartmentsOvernight stays in tourist apartments increased by 34.4% in September compared to the same month of the previous year. In the accumulated figure for the year, 54 million overnight stays have been registered in this type of establishment, which is still 7% less than in the same period three years ago, before the outbreak of the pandemic. Those of residents fell by 7.6%, while those of non-residents grew by 73.7%. The average stay increased by 0.4%, standing at 5.3 overnight stays per traveler. In September, 37.6% of the bedplaces offered by tourist apartments were occupied, 22.0% more than in the same month of 2021. Overnight stays by non-residents in tourist apartments represented 66.8% of the total. The United Kingdom is the main issuing market, with more than 1.6 million. The next market is Germany, with 601,838. Canarias is the preferred destination for apartments, with more than 1.9 million overnight stays and an increase of 45.2% compared to September 2021. The highest occupancy is in Comunidad de Madrid, with 82.9% of the apartments offered. It also reached the highest occupancy rate, with 65.7% of the places offered .Regarding hostels, in September there were 651,019 overnight stays in hostels, which represents an annual increase of 59.0%. Those of residents increased by 12.4% and those of non-residents by 119.3%. Galicia is the preferred destination, with 163,518 overnight stays. Community of Madrid reached the highest occupancy, with 68.6% of the places offered.
