The operation to partially or totally remove Oliver’s brain tumor will last more than eight hours

Little Oliver will undergo a second intervention this Wednesday, November 2, where the specialists at the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona will partially or totally remove the brain tumor. As reported by the hospital center, the operation is scheduled to begin at eight in the morning and last until mid-afternoon. Oliver, just three years old, is still recovering from the first operation he underwent last Friday to treat hydrocephalus. Specialists implanted a peritoneal ventricular shunt valve to treat hydrocephalus and thus control intracranial hypertension. Subsequently, the tumor will be analyzed in order to design the most appropriate oncological treatment. Anonymous businessman Just a week ago, specialists at a Mexican hospital diagnosed Oliver as suffering from a brain tumor, very aggressive and complex to intervene, located next to the brainstem. They gave him a prognosis of no more than three weeks to live if he did not undergo emergency surgery. The Mexican doctors considered that it was a highly complex operation and did not commit to doing it. The Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona offered to operate on him, but the transfer could not be done on a commercial flight due to the minor’s condition. Thanks to the anonymous donation of a businessman who paid for the almost 200,000 euros of the flight, Oliver has been able to travel to Barcelona to be operated on.
