In Instagram story, Illan Castronovo posted alarming messages suggesting that he ended his life. The first message was posted around 6am. The former Marseillais VS The Rest of the World candidate wrote that he had “had a hell of a life”, but that “all good things come to an end”. He then recalled that his life changed on November 14, 2021, because he was accused of sexual assault by candidates, including Nathanya Sonia. An investigation had been opened after the filing of two complaints, a case that had caused a lot of talk. Although he was apparently cleared last September, he has “lost all joy in life” because of this affair during which his name was dragged through the mud. “I tried to hold on and get up for my loved ones. But when I see that a year later, they still won’t let go of me… In reality, no one can realize what it’s like to ‘to be wrongly accused of horrible things, when did nothing. (…) The media court sentenced me to death,’ reads another publication. Illan Castronovo clarified that it was the straw that broke the camel’s back and that a well-known journalist “pushed him to suicide” by repeatedly associating the word “sexual assault” with his name. “You won. Please, when I am dead at least, respect my parents and my family. Stop saying this word associated with my name without any procedure against me and without any condemnation. Thank you. (.. .) And that’s not the only one, I don’t need to list, you know,” he continued. The 28-year-old explains that his name is smeared for life and that whatever he does will not change anything. “Today, the truth is that I would rather die than wear a label that is not mine”, can we read. He then posted a photo with his mom, captioned “I love you”. Finally, Illan Castronovo confided that he did not wish on anyone what he experienced and clarified that like everyone else, he has his limits. He then thanked everyone who supported him and reiterated how much he loved his family. No more news for two hours from the candidate. A situation that is very worrying. Let’s hope that bad news will not fall in the hours or days to come.
